Letter: Herrera Beutler is an enabler

Over the past many months, The Columbian’s letters have been filled with criticisms of Rep. Jaime Herrera Beutler, R-Battle Ground. But almost all have missed the key reason she needs to be removed from office in November.

Plain and simple, she’s a coward. She’s become just another toady in Donald Trump’s panoply of three monkey figurines who see no evil, hear no evil and speak no evil of him. In imposing her own personal gag order, she’s demonstrated her mortal fear of standing up to the most corrupt, evil and despicable human being, much less president, ever to step into the Oval Office. She has completely lost her moral compass and is no longer fit to occupy a position of trust in our government.

As a coward, she’s become an enabler. She refuses to stand up and speak out against corruption, abhorrent behavior and unlawful wrongdoing.

And now as markets crumble and the “emperor” is being unmasked, the vultures are coming home and they’re roosting in Herrera Beutler’s Washington, D.C., office. Her “oh, it’s not that bad” attitude is corrosive and will destroy our country if left unchecked. She has failed to stand up and speak out and therefore is unfit to be re-elected to an office she has neglected and abused.
