VANCOUVER — Two local students recently won full-ride scholarships to attend the University of Oregon. The Western Golf Association’s Chick Evan Scholarship was awarded to Kiana Coburn, a Fort Vancouver High School Center for International Studies graduate, and Anton Cole, a Central Catholic High School student. The scholarship, worth about $120,000 over four years, is for students who have demonstrated a strong caddie record and excellent academics, and have a demonstrated financial need and “outstanding character,” according to a news release. There are 1,010 caddies enrolled in 18 universities across the nation as Evans Scholars. The program was founded by Chicago golfer Charles “Chick” Evans Jr. “These young students all have shown excellence in the classroom and in their communities, as well as on the golf course,” John Kaczkowski, Western Golf Association president and CEO, said in the news release. “We welcome them to the Evans Scholars family.”
