RIDGEFIELD — Families in Ridgefield recently gathered to enjoy an evening of activities, games and sports during the Ridgefield School District P.E. Showcase. Students and their family members could pick and choose from a range of activities in gyms and common areas at Sunset Ridge Intermediate School and View Ridge Middle School. Team Rock Paper Scissors led everyone in a fast-paced relay across the gym at View Ridge. Then people learned to four-wall line dance during Funky Friday Line Dancing. P.E. teachers Ed Bate, Jesse Buck, Jerry DeShazer, Mary Murray, Ami Remmers, and Catherine Rinker led many games and sports, including Speedball, a game that mixes hockey goals and Ultimate Frisbee rules. They also played Spikeball, a Foursquare-style game, but played while bouncing on a mini-trampoline. All-ages yoga was led by Kristi Herron and Mandi Debord from MK Elevate. “With games and sports for all ages and abilities, families had lots of new options for activities to try together. The P.E. Showcase inspired students and families to have fun by getting moving,” a news release about the event stated.
