There are extraordinary people who rise to the occasion at times such as this. One such person is my neighbor Lynn, who is a trauma nurse.
Yesterday morning I filled a glass carafe with water and reached over to fill the coffee maker when it suddenly exploded. A jagged piece of glass fell on my foot and sliced my toe deeply across the top. Lynn sped down here with her medical supplies and assessed the situation. She told me that ordinarily I would go to the hospital for this injury and get a few stitches but that it may not be the wisest choice at this time.
I decided she was right and she proceeded to take care of my foot with what we had available. She reassured me that she believed I would heal OK and told me what to look out for. She came back today to change the dressing and make sure everything was healing properly.
I’m very thankful for Lynn and her knowledge and kindness. Not only did she help me but also did not further burden hospital resources and the further spread of this horrible virus. People need to be reminded that light and good still shines bright.
