The Washington State Department of Social and Health Services recently closed many of its offices to the public or began limiting foot traffic in response to COVID-19. People are encouraged to access services online or by telephone.

• The Division of Vocational Rehabilitation can be reached at 1-800-637-5627.

• For the Aging and Long-Term Support Administration, call 1-877-734-6277 for Adult Protective Services; 1-800-562-6078 for Residential Care Services; and visit waclc.org or call 1-855-567-0252 for Washington Community Living Connections.

• Developmental Disabilities Administration clients and providers who reside in Southwest Washington can reach the agency at 1-800-314-3296.

Community Services offices are still open to the public on a limited basis because they are considered an essential service, said department spokeswoman Kelly Von Holtz. That means people without phones or access to internet can still apply for benefits, request a replacement EBT card and access other necessary services.

However, those services can also be accessed by phone at the Customer Service Contact Center at 1-877-501-2233 or online at washingtonconnection.org. Von Holtz said the Customer Service Contact Center is experiencing high call volumes with long hold times.

“We’re working through that issue and just appreciate everyone’s patience,” she said.

Updates will be posted at dshs.wa.gov as well as on DSHS’ Facebook and Twitter pages. Additional information is available at coronavirus.wa.gov.
