A shop caught fire Friday morning in the Barberton area.

Vancouver firefighters responded shortly before 7 a.m. to 6005 N.E. 139th St. Five engines, two water tenders and two battalion chiefs were dispatched. Clark County Fire & Rescue and Clark County fire districts 3 and 6 also responded, according to a Vancouver Fire Department news release.

The first arriving engine found flames coming from a second-story window of the shop, which were burning through the roof, according to the fire department.

Firefighters pulled a hose line and shot water through the window to knock down the majority of the fire.

More crews arrived and hose lines were taken inside to extinguish the remaining blaze. The extinguishment was difficult due to “hidden void spaces that were challenging to access,” the fire department said.

No one was injured. A Clark County Fire Marshal’s Office investigator is looking into the fire’s cause.
