Letter: Help those who need it

There is so much in the news about how Congress will help Americans through this time of crisis. I ask that Sen. Cantwell, Rep. Herrera Beutler and Sen. Murray please make sure the effort is focused on helping the most vulnerable in our population. I urge them to work to make sure that those who are unemployed, or who are now making drastically less money due to loss of tips, in Washington are able to pay their bills and feed their families. They need to do everything they can to prevent this from turning into another corporate bailout. We have seen so many times that those bailouts never trickle down far enough to affect those who really need them.

I thank my elected officials for whatever part they played in reducing student loan burden in this time. I am lucky enough to have worked mostly from home for the last five years, and so will be able to continue working and earning income during this time. I qualify for the Public Service Loan Forgiveness program. I am looking forward to having my next few payments go directly to the principal of my loans instead of mostly to interest.

I urge Sen. Cantwell, Rep. Herrera Beutler and Sen. Murray to keep themselves as healthy as they can while they continue to fight for all Washingtonians.
