Letter: Trump has what we do not need

After designating Washington, California and New York as disaster areas, the president has not released disaster unemployment funds for them. With the 2020 election looming, perhaps he wants those states to do him a “favor” first.

There is a lesson in all of this, one we should have learned long ago: When you mix inexperience and incompetence with extreme arrogance, this is what you get.

That sums up our president and his administration. This whole mess is on him and his repeated lies. His January “hunch” was that a pandemic could never happen; his current accusation, as always, is that it is someone else’s fault. Both ridiculous assumptions were made despite repeated warnings he simply ignored. Did Trump create the virus? No. Could we have been much better prepared for it with competent leadership? Absolutely. We had time. It was foolishly wasted.

Some say Trump should take responsibility for his slow response to this. Why? He’s never taken responsibility for anything before in his entire life.

Inexperience, incompetence, arrogance. Just what we do not need.
