Letter: Work for a better world

The lieutenant governor of Texas, and others, have suggested that it would be appropriate to sacrifice some portion of the nation’s elderly if it made a resurgent economy possible, or likely. As a newly minted member of the over-60 set, let me be clear, and clear-eyed: I would give my life in a heartbeat if I thought it would assure that my grandchildren could grow up in a better world. The world being crafted by the current administration and the oligarchs who pull their strings is not that world, and I’m equally prepared to make any personal sacrifice to ensure that a better world emerges from the mess that is our current state of affairs.
