RIDGEFIELD — Ridgefield High School senior Grace Melbeur was the recipient of the Gen. George C. Marshall Leadership Award in the youth category. The award, given by The Historic Trust, recognizes an adult and youth for their leadership potential, commitment to public service and strength of character. The youth award recognizes a high school senior who has demonstrated leadership, stood for social justice and motivated others. The adult award, given to an up-and-coming leader age 35 or younger, was given to Chase Smith, a game designer and computer science teacher for Evergreen Public Schools. The awards ceremony was canceled due to COVID-19, but a private luncheon is being scheduled later.
