Letter: Rep. Kraft is misguided

Recently, state Rep. Vicki Kraft coordinated with alleged domestic terrorist, Rep. Matt Shea, to protest against Washington state’s closures to prevent the spread of COVID-19 (“100-plus protest COVID-19 closures at courthouse,” The Columbian, May 2). Dozens of people showed up without masks and stood close together, putting their lives at risk of being exposed to the virus.

While she mockingly twirled her mask in the air, thousands of Washington essential workers still do not have access to protective masks or gloves at their place of work. As the protesters stood close together, breathing on each other, Washington state has no contact and tracing system to protect the rest of us who may be exposed to them afterwards. If Vicki Kraft wants to be helpful in reopening the state, her time is best spent advocating for a much-needed testing system where everyone has access to a test that shows reliable results. Otherwise, she’s just wasting time exposing her own constituents who trust her to the virus.

From one Christian to another, Vicki: Don’t tempt the Lord thy God (Matthew 4:7).
