Letter: Give me liberty and death

To those who protest and shout “Give me liberty or give me death,” take heed to this:

The COVID-19 virus doesn’t care about your liberty or your job or your social gatherings, or opening up the economy. It doesn’t care if you are male, female, old, young, fat, skinny, healthy or not. It doesn’t care if you are white, black, brown, red or yellow. It doesn’t care about your race, religion, creed or your sexual orientation. It doesn’t care if you are urban, suburban, rural, Republican, Democrat, liberal, conservative, independent, red, blue, rich, or poor, janitor or president. It doesn’t care about your country of origin, your education, your IQ level, or your financial situation. It doesn’t respect borders; city, county, state, national, or international.

There is no cure for this pathogen. Social distancing, masks, sanitizing, and stay-at-home orders help to slow the spread. But if you come in contact with this virus it may affect your breathing, heart, lungs, liver, kidneys, eyes, brain, intestines or any weakness you have. Its sole purpose is to take over your body and kill you.

So be careful what you ask for; you just might get both.
