Letter: Regain civility, decency

It is time for the American citizens to say “Enough!”

The last 3 1/2 years, we have been witness to a total lack of restraint on the part of a president who tweets vicious attacks on all manner of people. President Trump has threatened, lied, and bullied his way to creating a climate of disrespect and incivility in our country. It is time for polite discourse, honesty, and integrity in the way we treat one another.

The letters to the editor daily contain a back and forth jockeying of opinions about wearing masks in public places. What happened to the idea of doing what is best for the common good? Or the idea of our doing what is best for the general welfare of the community — meaning all of us.

We are all in this pandemic together. I hope and pray that we can come out of this crisis with a reset of our civility and common decency toward one another.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
