Letter: Help tribes receive aid

Our Native American tribes are in need of the stimulus aid that Congress passed back in March. For years many have lived in conditions that are below modern standards; e.g. no running water, no electricity, no broadband, no grocery stores nearby. In some areas the groundwater has been contaminated by radioactive waste so running water is no longer an option.

Now they face the same virus we do without assistance, without the ability to frequently wash their hands like we have been instructed, and without the stimulus aid that Congress passed. This is wrong. This is unacceptable. These people need help. They have the highest per capita infection rate. They are battling a hotspot with no assistance.

On the news I hear Ireland is helping out the Navajo Nation and Hopi because the Navajo Nation and Hopi helped Ireland during the potato famine. While that is nice of Ireland, it should never need to happen in America. We are one of the richest nations in world and we must do better. Sens. Cantwell and Murray must help them get this aid.
