Letter: Prevent the spread of germs

To the people who choose to not wear a mask, in the presence of this coronavirus, I ask a question: Do you cover your nose and mouth when you cough or sneeze? Of course you do. You cough or sneeze into your sleeve, or you use a tissue or a handkerchief. This prevents the spread of germs.

This is something we are all taught, from a very young age. Not only is this socially acceptable, it is a social expectation. I’ll ask another question: When someone is standing close to you and they don’t cover a cough or a sneeze, how does that make you feel?

Unfortunately we have a virus that continues to circulate in our communities, that may not only be spread by coughing or sneezing, but by the simple acts of talking and breathing. So, just as you cover your nose and mouth when you cough or sneeze, it only makes sense to cover your nose and mouth when you talk and breathe. Wear a mask. It prevents the spread of germs.
