Former Vancouver Mayor Royce Pollard has won the inaugural Symbol of Freedom award from CDM Caregiving Services.

CDM centered this award around Veterans Day to honor local and national veterans.

An award event will be held virtually at 6:30 p.m. Nov. 9. All donations received from the event will benefit therapies and programs offered through CDM’s Living with Dignity program.

The pandemic has caused greater depression, loneliness and isolation in CDM clients. CDM is offering virtual music, art, restorative therapy and social programs for clients.

Pollard won this award because of his commitment to serving his country and community, according to a CDM press release.

Pollard served in the U.S. Army for more than 26 years. He also served on the Vancouver City Council and was Vancouver mayor from 1996 to 2010.

Tickets may be purchased at https://cdmcaregiving.org/events/symbol-of-freedom.
