Clark County Public Health will not release novel coronavirus numbers today because of the Veterans Day holiday.

Public Health said in a Wednesday morning tweet: “While our COVID-19 team conducts case interviews and contact notifications every day, including holidays, we will not have a COVID-19 case update today. Our next update will be (Thursday).”

Clark County Public Health reported 166 new cases on Tuesday, a record number of cases for a single day, and four deaths. The deaths bring the county’s death toll to 77, with a total of 5,783 cases in the county.

Cases are rising across the state. Washington cracked 120,000 cases this week and is approaching 2,500 deaths, according to the Washington State Department of Health. The death rate in Washington stands at 2.1 percent.

“I am extremely concerned about what seems to be an accelerating trend in the spread of COVID-19” State Health Officer Dr. Kathy Lofy said in a statement released Tuesday. “Immediate action is needed from all of us to avoid new restrictions and prevent our hospitals from becoming overwhelmed.”
