FAIRWAY/164TH — Touchmark at Fairway Village celebrated Veterans Day this year with its annual releasing of doves. Touchmark resident and veteran Jonathan Frederick, 79, dressed in uniform for the event. According to a news release, Frederick had an extensive military career, retiring from the U.S. Army as a colonel. His service stretched from the Vietnam War, through the Cold War Era, to the first Operation Desert Storm, a news release said. Awards include the Legion of Merit, the Bronze Star and Meritorious Service medal, which he received three times. “It’s the love of this country that motivates those who serve in the Armed Forces. Instilling the value of being in service to the larger community is something I am proud to pass on to the next generation,” Frederick said.
