Museum holds fundraising events

AMBOY — The North Clark County Historical Museum, 21416 N.E. 399th St., held a parking lot sale on Sept. 25 and a shred day on Sept. 26. Both events aimed to raise donations for the small museum, a nonprofit with a mission to “preserve North Clark County’s natural and cultural history through collections and exhibits, and to sponsor educational programs and research opportunities for the enrichment of the public.” “Not a huge crowd, but enough to bring in a little income,” said Georgene Neal, a board member of the museum. “We had many people bring their documents to shred and collected almost enough to pay for the shred truck.” They hope to do another shred, which offers community members an option to tear up documents in bulk, in the spring. Waste Connections provided the truck. Volunteers at the sale and shred included Debbie Zitt, April, Tom and Heidi Reichstein, Neal, Tom Harmon and Dan Fetter. Starting Oct. 10, the museum will be open noon to 4 p.m. each second and fourth Saturday of the month with mask requirements and limitations on numbers of visitors.
