Vancouver seeking new planning commissioner

The city of Vancouver is seeking applicants for an opening on its Planning Commission.

The Planning Commission is made up of seven volunteer members who make recommendations to the city council regarding growth and development. The commission is seeking candidates with a background in housing, community planning or urban design, and who are active in the community.

The commission’s time commitment is around 15 hours per month, including attendance at meetings on second and forth Tuesdays.

Applicants must be a Vancouver resident or live in the unincorporated Vancouver Urban Growth Area.

The position is currently held by an individual whose term is expiring and may reapply. Incumbents who wish to reapply for their positions will be reinterviewed along with any qualifying applicants.

The interviews will be held Dec. 11. Applications must be submitted to the city manager’s office by 5 p.m. Nov. 1.
