Radio traffic: One wounded by gunfire in north Clark County

The Clark County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an assault that sent one person with a gunshot wound to a hospital via air ambulance, according to emergency radio traffic.

The shooting was reported at about 7:10 p.m. near Chelatchie. Crews from Clark County Fire District 10 were dispatched to a report of a person with a central gunshot wound. The victim had been wounded elsewhere and brought to the Chelatchie Prairie General Store at 42411 N.E. Yale Bridge Road, according to dispatch records.

At the same time, the Clark County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to investigate a report of an assault from the same location.

Emergency responders called in a LifeFlight air ambulance to transport the victim to a hospital. The helicopter was directed to land at a nearby private airstrip, according to emergency radio traffic.

Emergency radio traffic indicated that the victim had confronted a group of people shooting in the woods and had been shot in the abdomen. He was driven to the store by friends, according to radio traffic.
