Letter: Vote for science

Voting for science would change many things. To end the COVID-19 pandemic, we must vote for science. To avoid future pandemics, we must vote for science. To meet the climate change crisis, we must vote for science. To transition to renewable energy, we must vote for science. To feed a growing world population, we must vote for science. To protect water and air and soil and all plant and animal species, we must vote for science. To advance environmental justice, we must vote for science. To renew our country’s moral leadership in the world, we must vote for science.

But how does one vote for science? By voting for those candidates who respect science, who embrace it, who celebrate it. We should know by now which candidates those are, because it’s obvious which political party has turned its back on science, and which party understands that science shows the way toward better tomorrows. Both science and anti-science are on the ballot. Choose science.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
