OLD EVERGREEN HIGHWAY — An Aug. 25 “work party” at Jane Weber Evergreen Arboretum was, in fact, a party. Norma Williams was surprised by her fellow volunteers with cake, beverages and well wishes – as it was her 88th birthday. “Norma has been a dedicated volunteer for several years with her husband Jerry and can outwork folks half her age. Digging, planting, weeding, beautifying – you name it, she’s game,” said member Linda Heglin. Those interested in helping can join volunteers every Tuesday at 9 a.m. and at 10 a.m. every second Saturday of the month at the arboretum, 9215 S.E. Evergreen Highway.
