The Associated Press recently reported on the state of play in congressional races across the country, noting that Democrats are relying on virtual events in the face of the ongoing COVID crisis. “Republicans mock Democrats’ virtual campaigning as hiding from voters,” the story says (“Trump looms large over campaigns for control of Congress,” The Associated Press, Sept. 6).
This cynical mockery, of course, is unavailable to our own Republican congresswoman from Southwest Washington. Rep. Jaime Herrera Beutler has been hiding from her voters since long before the virus arrived.
