Letter: Protect student health with sex ed

Due to my lack of public school sex education and cultural upbringing, it took me five months to realize I was sexually assaulted — and I found out by Googling it. Unfortunately, I wasn’t the only one to find out this way. My peers and I never learned about sexual coercion and affirmative consent until it was too late. If we had received the comprehensive sex ed Referendum 90 is promising, we would have been taught this. Don’t let another student down. A vote to approve Referendum 90 on this November’s ballot is a pledge to ensure students’ rights to safety.
