Letter: Respectfully talk about issues

While out walking my dog I was in a coronavirus conversation (masked with 6-feet distance between us) with my neighbor’s daughter. She is a fifth-grade school teacher. She stated that her students were able to have meaningful discussions about many of the problems facing our community, country and world. They listened to each other and respectfully respond.

So start over and decide who do you believe and maybe who do you wish you could believe? Scientists? Reporters? Politicians? We have to learn to trust those people that will give you the most accurate information. If we don’t learn to trust, then our democracy will not endure.

So look up the word “charrette” and lets hope that the adults can be more childlike. If we can’t talk about the problems respectfully, coherently and honestly then they will not be solved.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
