Four people were seriously injured Tuesday afternoon in a two-car crossover crash north of Battle Ground, according to the Clark County Sheriff’s Office.

The crash occurred about 4:15 p.m. in the 33800 block of Northeast Gable Avenue when a southbound Chevrolet coupe, driven by John C. Clifford, 39, of Battle Ground crossed over the centerline of the roadway and struck a Nissan SUV driven by Lori K. Anchors, 61, of Battle Ground, according to a sheriff’s office statement.

Clifford was transported to a hospital via a Life Flight helicopter, while Anchors and two children riding with her were transported via ambulance to local hospitals. All four were seriously injured, according to the sheriff’s office.

The Clark County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Unit is investigating, but the sheriff’s office statement said preliminary findings suggest that alcohol impairment by Clifford may have been a factor in the crash.  The roadway was closed for a little more than three hours during the investigation.
