Letter: Properly dispose masks, cut loops

The “Jeer” in today’s paper mentioning pandemic litter made an important point and was welcomed (“Cheers & Jeers: Farmers market springs to life,” The Columbian, March 27). However, I would have loved to have seen a mention of the right way to dispose of masks. Because masks can be a strangulation hazard to animals, it’s very important to break the loop when disposing of any mask. We do enough stupid things to kill wildlife without seeking new ways.
