Letter: Lies undermine First Amendment

By Harold A. Lay, VANCOUVER

Regarding the letter about the Second Amendment by James Armstrong (“Shooting leads to questions,” Our Readers’ Views, March 27), I wonder if the Founding Fathers would have known about the effect of social media and the spread of lies and misinformation about vaccines, GMOs, climate change, etc., that has directly led to an untold number of deaths, would they have been so ready to pass the First Amendment? I think not.
