Downtown Camas is well-known for its monthly First Friday events, which continued during the pandemic with a blend of online and on-location happenings. As a rule, First Fridays have always leaned heavily toward family- and kid-friendly activities. But why should kids have all the fun?

From 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, downtown Camas will introduce the more grown-up Third Thursdays featuring live music, evening shopping, happy hour cocktails and wine pairings, art shows and demonstrations, trunk shows and pop-up shops.

“Woo-hoo! These are going to be fun! Adding more options for fun evening downtown experiences and also encouraging shopping and dining local … these are the driving forces behind the new Third Thursday events,” said Carrie Schulstad, executive director of the Downtown Camas Association, in an announcement of the monthly event. “This will be a perfect time to plan a date night or girls’ night out.”

Third Thursdays will have themes, too, although they’ll likely center around things that adults can relate to.

Since April 15 happens to fall on tax day, the theme is “Tax Day Relief,” and attendees can expect jewelry trunk shows at Allure Boutique and Lily Atelier, wine, cake and live music at Attic Gallery, a pop-up shop with Brenda Calvert from Half Moon Farm at Camas Antiques, a Girl Scout cookie and wine pairing at Salud Wine Bar and Italian Dining, stress relief products from The Soap Chest, and cara cara orange margaritas from Tommy O’s at the Camas Hotel. At LiveWell Camas, you’ll also find clothing, high-end candles and plants at three Black women-owned pop-up shops.

Downtown Camas restaurants, taprooms, cocktail lounges and coffeehouses will also offer special Third Thursday menu items. For a complete list of Thursday’s diverting options, visit downtowncamas.com.

Like First Fridays, Third Thursdays will be year-round.
