Evergreen High School alum Robert Franks made his NBA debut on Monday, scoring four points against the San Antonio Spurs just hours after the Orlando Magic signed him to a 10-day contract.

Franks played nearly 15 minutes, hitting a 3-pointer in his only field goal attempt. The 6-foot-7 forward also had four rebounds, one assist and shot 1-for-2 from the free-throw line.

The visiting Spurs won 120-97.

“Tonight was an unbelievable feeling,” Franks tweeted after the game. “Truly blessed but this is only the beginning.”

Prior to signing with Orlando, Franks trained in Vancouver. He had been working out at the Evergreen High gym in recent weeks.

Franks played in 14 games this season with Lakeland of the NBA G League. He averaged 12.1 points and 6.6 rebounds per game. Franks helped Lakeland capture the 2020-21 NBA G League championship.

Prior to joining Lakeland, Franks signed as a free agent with Orlando on Nov. 27 and appeared in two preseason games with the Magic, recording five points in 10 minutes. He was waived on Dec. 19.

During the 2019-20 season, Franks played in 36 games for the Greensboro Swarm and Stockton Kings of the NBA G League, averaging 17.3 points per game.

Franks got on the NBA’s radar during a standout senior season at Washington State. He averaged 21.6 points and 7.2 rebounds, earning First Team All-Pac-12 honors.
