Nominees for Week 7 high school athlete of the week

Voting continues through 7 p.m. Thursday

Here are the nominees for the Week 7 high school athlete of the week, for results from April 12-17.

Voting will continue until 7 p.m. Thursday, with results announced in Friday’s edition of The Columbian.

Winners of the athlete-of-the-week may not be nominated again in the same sports season.

To avoid vote manipulation, voting is restricted by IP address, one vote per IP address. That means people voting while connected to a public WIFI access may be unable to vote. We suggest voting be done by private internet access or through your cellular provider.

NICK ALDER, COLUMBIA RIVER BASEBALL: Alder pitched five scoreless innings with 11 strikeouts. He was also 11 for 14 with six runs and five RBI.

JASON BOWMAN, WOODLAND BOYS TRACK AND FIELD: Bowman won the shot put (50-9), discus (143-4.5) and javelin (158-10.5) in a meet against Columbia River.

DAVID MOORE, SETON CATHOLIC BOYS SOCCER: Moore scored two goals and assisted on six of the Cougars’ other eight goals as Seton remained unbeaten.

KEKAI SCHULTZ, RIDGEFIELD SOFTBALL: Schultz went 7 for 10 with three doubles, a home run, five runs and seven RBI in three games for the Spudders.

ELLE THOMAS, WASHOUGAL GIRLS TRACK AND FIELD: The freshman won the 800 meters (2:29.63), 1,600 (5:20.21) and ran on the winning 1,600 relay in a win over Mark Morris and R.A. Long.
