Letter: Clean up the city

By Joe Blatner Sr., Vancouver

Though I have a heart, it is troubling to see tents popping up all around Vancouver, like off the Mill Plain exit to Interstate 5 northbound, etc. In walking downtown Sunday, I saw where a rock was thrown through Fulwiler Insurance Agency’s window, and who knows if there were any consequences?

Our city officials better be proactive or we will look like Portland in a short time, and I believe Portland will never recover in my lifetime. It is too far gone. The graffiti alone will take 10 or more years to clean off. I understand there are poor people and families that deserve our help, and need our help, but many of these do not want help but all the freebees given to them. The garbage they leave is unbelievable, and if the city officials don’t want to take care of this, they should be voted out.
