One man was killed and another man was injured in a plane crash Wednesday afternoon at Grove Field airport north of Camas. The Clark County Sheriff’s Office confirmed the fatality and said the other man was taken to a hospital. His condition was unknown.

The sheriff’s office did not release the identities of the people involved, pending next of kin notification.

Deputies and East County Fire & Rescue personnel responded to Grove Field, 632 N.E. 267th Ave., for the aircraft emergency, which was reported at 3:13 p.m.

The small plane crashed into a hangar on the west end of the Grove Field airstrip, according to emergency radio traffic monitored by The Columbian.

Initial reports indicated that one person was trapped inside the aircraft and another was outside of it. Two ambulances were called to the scene, but one was later canceled, according to the radio traffic.

Officials on scene said fuel was leaking from the aircraft, according to the radio traffic.

The Federal Aviation Administration and National Transportation Safety Board will be on the scene Thursday to investigate.
