Three people were taken to the hospital Friday morning after a crash that closed state Highway 14 east of Washougal near the Skamania County line.

According to the Washington State Patrol, Ammar S. Hasan, 30, of Vancouver, was speeding when he lost control of his yellow Nissan Sentra sedan around a curve near Milepost 22 and crashed into a maroon Ford Edge SUV in the oncoming lane.

The crash occurred around 9:22 a.m.

Hasan was reported to have been injured, as were two people in the Ford.  Driver Renat Eakin, 59, of Vancouver, passenger Brent A. Eakin, 59, of Newcastle, and Hasan were all transported to PeaceHealth Southwest Washington Medical Center for evaluation and treatment of injuries.

According to emergency radio traffic monitored at The Columbian, at least one patient was in critical condition after being extricated from the vehicles.

Alcohol or drugs were not factors in the crash, according to Washington State Patrol. The roadway was closed or partially closed for about 90 minutes as troopers investigated.
