Camas-based high-power semiconductor and fiber laser company nLIGHT reported a 33 percent year-over-year revenue increase in its quarterly earnings report released Thursday.

Revenue reached $69.1 million and gross margin was 29.4 percent for the second quarter of 2021, the company reported.

The company’s net loss for the second quarter of 2021 was $7.9 million, or 19 cents per diluted share, after stock option expense and amortization costs were factored in. It was 1 cent greater than the average of three analyst estimates from Zacks Investment Research.

“Growth in all three of our end markets resulted in record revenue in the second quarter, which exceeded the top end of our guidance range,” said Scott Keeney, nLIGHT’s president and chief executive officer, in a news release.

“Further adoption of our innovative high-power fiber lasers led to record revenue from industrial customers outside of China, and increased global demand for our industry-leading semiconductor lasers resulted in significant growth in microfabrication. We also increased our aerospace & defense revenue by 57 percent year-over-year, and we continue to make excellent progress in directed energy.”

The company employs 1,200 in the U.S., China, Finland, South Korea and Italy.

Its stock, which trades under the symbol LASR on the Nasdaq, closed Friday at $29.92 per share, up 18.45 percent year-over-year.
