2 shootings in Vancouver leave 1 dead, 1 injured

Two shootings in Vancouver about 20 minutes apart Monday night left one man dead and another in critical condition at a hospital, according to the Vancouver Police Department.

Vancouver police responded around 10:25 p.m. to the Columbia View Apartments, 4801 E. Fifth St. in Vancouver, for a report of a shooting, according to the police department.

Residents reported hearing multiple shots. One resident said she heard four rapid shots followed by three more shots.

Police found an adult male shot in the parking lot. He was taken to the hospital and did not survive his injuries, according to Vancouver police.

While police were interviewing a resident, she said they told her they had to leave and go to another shooting.

Vancouver police responded around 10:46 p.m. to 4601 N.E. 18th St. for a report for a shooting at an occupied vehicle. Police found an adult male shot in his vehicle. The man was taken to a hospital in critical condition, according to police.

Detectives with Vancouver police’s Major Crime Unit are investigating both shootings and said they don’t know if the shootings are connected.
