Raptors Road Trip: Walla Walla 6, Ridgefield 0

The Sweets ended a 12-game losing streak on Wednesday be hanging an onion ring around the Raptors’ playoff push. Ridgefield only mustered three hits on a 98-degree night in eastern Washington.

KEY MOMENTS: Ridgefield had only two runners reach second base. The best chance to score was with one out in the sixth inning as Doyle Kane and Caden Connor hit back-to-back singles. However, Isaac Lovings grounded into a double play to end the threat.

KEY PLAYERS: Sweet’s starting pitcher Calvin Kirchoff (Washington) combined with Caden Kaelber (Washington State) on the shutout. Kirchoff allowed the three hits and had 10 strikeouts and two walks in 6 1/3 innings. Kaelber struck out five of the nine batters he faced in his 2 2/3 innings.

NEXT GAME: Ridgefield (25-22, 12-11 2nd half) at Walla Walla (15-32, 6-17), 7:05 p.m. today (regular-season finale).
