ORCHARDS — A heartfelt remembrance of Duncan, a quirky and beloved senior shelter cat adopted by Amy Libby and her husband in 2017, was honored by the ARM & HAMMER Feline Generous Program and the ASPCA and was one of three national winners in the program’s “Senior Tales” giveaway, collecting $2,500 to support programs at the Humane Society for Southwest Washington.

Duncan died in May at the age of 17 after a long illness.

“We knew his quality of life was rapidly declining, and after years of love from him, we knew we had to show him the same love and make the hardest decision a pet parent can make,” Libby, a Columbian employee, wrote in her essay. “I miss my OldManCat every day. But I wouldn’t give up a single moment of the time we had with him.”
