Letter: Make decision to be vaccinated

Those of us who make wise decisions in this life will continue to see our children and grandchildren grow up. Those of us who do not choose wisely may not be as fortunate.

I would think that protecting my personal health and those around me would be more important than any political, social or religious beliefs I may have. Do people not see that our ICU beds are full of unvaccinated COVID-19 patients? Just look at the news.

Look at all the exhausted medical professionals and how they continue to provide care for our communities. They can only do this for so long before they are burned out and call it quits. My wife is an ICU nurse and works all of the critical care areas in Portland and Vancouver. She has been doing this for 40 years. This crisis has taken a toll on her emotionally and physically. She leaves at 6 a.m. and gets home around 9:30 p.m.

We wish the community would have some consideration for health care providers and stop being so selfish. As a retired health care provider, I wish all of you the best in making the decision to be vaccinated: the most important decision you will ever make for yourself, and most of all for your own family.
