Letter: A viral Christmas message

Let’s look at the world from the virus’s perspective. This is the holiday letter it would write:

“Well, this is a time for joyous holidays in so many religions, and we just want to thank all the humans that have let us into their lives. So sorry that it has been so lethal.

“As a virus, we take the route of least resistance just like water and air. My virus family and all the present and future mutants want to thank all the politicians, governments, and individuals who didn’t take us seriously. Without you, we wouldn’t have been able to survive.

“Thank you for not wearing masks, not sterilizing your environment, not isolating, and especially, not vaccinating. I realize that you humans are our host, but being a virus, we reproduce and mutate until we are no longer able to. You humans are our petri dish; thanks for keeping us alive.”

As humans we have all received this holiday message. It is now up to us to decide what we shall do with this unwanted virus for it does not care about our rights, or our lives.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
