Vancouver Police Department: Phone scam asks for money

By , Columbian staff writer

The Vancouver Police Department is warning people of a phone scammer posing as someone with the police department and asking for donations.

The reported scam calls so far are coming from the number 360-873-5174, according to a police news release, but the agency warns scammers can sometimes use multiple phone numbers.

Vancouver police will never call and ask for donations, the department said. Police ask people to report the calls or contacts that could be related to this scam.
