PRAIRIE 69, SETON CATHOLIC 36 — Hayden Rose scored 31 points and Baily Kousonsavath scored all 14 of his points in the third quarter as the Falcons used a big second-half to get a season-opening win.

Prairie was playing for the first time because three early-season games had to get rescheduled for later in the season.

“We’ve had 20 practices and no games, so it was just nice to face somebody else,” Prairie coach Jimmy Tuominen said.

The Falcons took a 28-22 lead into halftime. But with Kousonsavath leading the way, Prairie extended its lead to 49-30 after three quarters.

“We had a lot of guys playing in their first varsity game tonight,” Tuominen said. “It’s nice to get one under their belt and find out what it’s like to play at 7 p.m.”

It was also Tuominen’s first game as Prairie’s head coach. He did have a lengthy stint as interim coach for Kyle Brooks to end the 2019-2020 season.

KING’S WAY CHRISTIAN 62, MONTESANO 30 — Jamison Duke and Giovanny Evanson scored 19 points for the Knights, who jumped out to a 31-7 lead by halftime and cruised to a road win.

Evanson also added six assists, five rebounds and five steals for the Knights. Ryan Tyler and Matthew Belefski also added seven rebounds each.

CASTLE ROCK 67, HOQUIAM 52 — Trystin Marin and Adam Partridge combined for 45 points as the Rockets finished strong again.

“It was a huge tale of two halves for us,” Castle Rock assistant coach Andrew Johnson said. “We came out and took a 15-3 lead, and they finished the half with a 23-0 run. That’s not an exaggeration. But then we had a good conversation at halftime about who we wanted to be, and the guys came out and played a great second half.”

Marin had 27 points to lead the Rockets, and Partridge added 18 as Castle Rock used a 25-6 fourth quarter to erase a 46-42 deficit after three quarter.

“We needed all 27 of Trystin’s points, and Adam is a guy you know is just going to bring it every night,” Johnson said. “They had 18 of our 25 points in the fourth quarter and really put us on their backs.”
