A 36-year-old Portland man died Saturday night in a wreck on the southbound Interstate 5 offramp to 78th Street in Hazel Dell, according to a bulletin from the Washington State Patrol

Ying Ting was driving a 2016 Honda CRV that stalled on the offramp, blocking the road.

Kiki K. Salazar, 20, of Milwaukie, Ore., was driving a 2013 Kia Soul with passenger Jorge Santiago-Joaquin, 21, of Ridgefield, and stopped on the right shoulder of the road in front of the Honda to help Ting. The three were standing between their two cars when a 2019 Volkswagon GTI driven by Derek A. Cunningham crashed into the Honda at about 9:45 p.m.

Ting died at the scene. An ambulance took Salazar and Santiago-Joaquin to PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center.

The state patrol is investigating.
