Two state grants totaling $11 million are headed to the Vancouver Housing Authority and Columbia Non-profit Housing—a program established by VHA—to bolster the amount of affordable housing in Clark County.

CNPH received $5 million from the Washington State Department of Commerce’s Traditional Housing Trust Fund. The money will go toward the construction of Laurel Manor, an 82-unit apartment complex for low-income seniors and seniors exiting homelessness. The project is slated for a vacant lot near Northeast 66th Avenue and 33rd Street in the Bagley Downs neighborhood. The project also received low-income housing tax credits plus an award from the City of Vancouver’s Affordable Housing Fund to meet the total development cost of $29.6 million.

VHA received $6 million from Commerce’s Rapid Capital Housing Acquisition program. The money will go toward purchasing a 40-unit apartment complex from Team Construction. The apartments, near the VanMall neighborhood, will be for low-income residents and are slated to open in April 2022. The project also received funding from the Affordable Housing Fund to meet the total development cost of $10 million.
