Prep roundup: Camas girls into championship of Cactus Jam

The Camas High girls basketball team moved into the championship game of the Cactus Jam at Phoenix with a 63-36 win over Prestonwood, Texas, on Tuesday.

Camas’ Addison Harris, a 6-foot-1 sophomore, went up against a front line of three Prestonwood girls over 6-0 and still finished with a double-double of 14 points and 11 rebounds.

The Papermakers (6-3) held Prestonwood to 14 second-half points.

“We popped in the third when (Reagan) Jamison started getting to the rim,” Camas coach Scott Thompson said as Jamison had 10 of her 12 points in the second half.

Anna Mooney added 11 points with three 3-pointers.

The tournament championship game is scheduled for Thursday.

Girls basketball

SUMMIT (ORE.) 51, HOCKINSON 38 — The Hawks could not overcome the size advantage Summit of Bend, Ore., brought to the game at the Holiday Hoopfest in Bend.

Hockinson (7-2) was held to single-digit scoring in three of the four quarters for the first time this season.

Kylie Ritter did have a double-double with 10 points and 12 rebounds plus three assists. Addie Chappelle also had 10 points to go with six rebounds and three steals.

SKYVIEW 45, McMINNVILLE (ORE.) 37 — A 16-7 start was more than enough as the Storm held off McMinnville at the Portland Holiday Classic played at Grant High School. Skyview held McMinnville to 13 points in the first half.

Rowyn Riley led Skyview in scoring with 12 points.

RIVERDALE 45, KING’S WAY CHRISTIAN 41 — Ella Zimmerman scored a career-high 20 points to go with seven rebounds for King’s Way. Laurel Quinn added 10 points in the road loss.

Boys basketball

CANBY (ORE.) 65, EVERGREEN 61 — The Plainsmen had a 20-point fourth quarter to rally back before falling short in the game at the Les Schwab Invitational at Hillsboro, Ore.

Evergreen’s Juelz Mendoza led all scorers with 28 points, 17 coming in the second half.

The Plainsmen, a late addition to the tournament, are scheduled to play Sherwood (Ore.) at 9 a.m. Wednesday at Liberty High School in Hillsboro.

CAMAS 66, SCRIPPS RANCH (CALIF.) 57 — The Papermakers turned it up in the second half, outscoring Scripps Ranch of San Diego 41-23 and getting the win at the Torrey Pines Holiday Classic in San Diego.

Carson Frawley scored a career-high 27 points with 17 coming in the second half, and Stephen Behil also had a career high with 18 points to help Camas (6-0) overcome a 34-25 halftime deficit.

UNION 74, MT. SPOKANE 62 — Bryson Metz made 9 of 10 shots from the field and all five of his free throws for a game-high 24 points as the Titans ended Mt. Spokane’s seven-game win streak.

Yanni Fassillis added 15 oints, Evan Eschels 13, and Porter Hill 11 for Union at the Central Valley Holiday Tournament game in Spokane.

Union next plays host Central Valley on Wednesday.
