Letter: Increase efforts on climate change

By Craig Robert Brown, VANCOUVER
Published: February 4, 2021, 6:00am

I applaud the editorial staff for endorsing the implementation of improved building requirements (“In Our View: New homebuilding standards necessary hurdle,” The Columbian, Feb. 1). As both a parent and grandparent, as well as a member of Citizens’ Climate Lobby, it is heartening to see action being taken at the state and local level to reduce our use of fossil fuels.

While any step that is taken at any level to reduce our reliance on fossil fuel is beneficial, we need action at the national level to put a price on carbon. I urge my fellow citizens to let your congressional representatives know that they need to take action. Their support of The Energy Innovation and Carbon Dividend Act would be a good place to start.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
