Stop ill-conceived knee-jerk legislation. Ask representatives to vote “No” on HB 1054. Reintroduce new bills with intelligent thought and refinements to existing rules and laws.
A choke-hold ban is not needed; it’s already severely restricted. Tear gas is the only tool to disperse large crowds that can overrun or kill officers. No-knock warrants prevent officer ambush by known violent criminals, and is severely restricted. Police dog use saves an officer’s life. Additional reviews are unnecessary; deadly shootings are already investigated outside departments. Use-of-force database won’t work.
