A Battle Ground woman is accused of being the getaway driver in a June robbery of a marijuana dispensary in downtown Vancouver.
Alexis Paige Morrison, 20, appeared Thursday via Zoom in Clark County Superior Court on suspicion of first-degree robbery, court records show. Morrison was granted supervised release; she will be arraigned Feb. 23.
At about 9:30 p.m. June 27, Vancouver police responded for an armed robbery at High End Market Place marijuana dispensary, 1924 Broadway. An employee reported that three masked males, one armed with a shotgun, made off with marijuana product and money, according to an affidavit of probable cause. They reportedly fled in a purple sedan.
The suspect vehicle, identified as a 2019 Mitsubishi Mirage, was later located and stopped. Morrison, the driver, and four juvenile males were detained, the affidavit says.
The four boys, who are not all identified in the affidavit, were arrested on suspicion of first-degree robbery.
Morrison told police a friend gave her the boys’ addresses. She said she was told they needed a ride, and she would be paid a “substantial amount of money,” the affidavit reads.
She said she didn’t initially know she was going to be involved in the robbery, and she felt obligated to participate after seeing one of the boys with the shotgun, according to court records.
“Alexis Morrison could not articulate any specific threats made to her in regards to this feeling of duress and also admitted that she did not contact law enforcement or make any attempt to flee or remove herself from the ongoing situation,” the affidavit reads.
Before driving to the dispensary, Morrison stopped near Northwest 49th Street and Lincoln Avenue, where she was seen removing her license plates. She said she waited in the car during the robbery and then drove back to the friend’s house to discuss where to hand off the stolen product and money, the affidavit states.
The affidavit did not say if the friend or his girlfriend, who is also believed to be involved, had been arrested in connection with the robbery.
