Vancouver native and Union High alumnus Ricky Simon put on his best performance in the UFC to date, topping Brian Kelleher by a unanimous 30-27 decision on Saturday in the UFC Apex in Las Vegas. The fight was part of UFC 258, his second pay-per-view main card appearance.

Simon went to the wrestling he learned as a Titan and perfected as a martial artist early and often. He opened a big cut on Kelleher’s eye in the first round and dominated from start to finish.

“It was definitely me but I don’t know if it was my best,” Simon said in his post-fight interview with Joe Rogan.

It was his sixth win in the UFC, second in a month, and his first at featherweight (145 pounds). He has one fight left on a four-fight UFC contract that he signed before his May victory over Ray Borg. He has won all three fights on the contract. He has said on Twitter he wants to take a few months off before his next fight.
